One strategy one could imagine is that another condition that might be applied to such patents is that the government or other public entity might have the right to buy out the patent at some reasonable price, say some multiple of the actual development costs (say 5X). Getting drugs into the public domain (i.e. generic) as fast as possible would be good not only for us, but internationally as well.
